Pixie for Plex beta: standalone Apple Watch player now on TestFlight

Hi everyone,

I’m sharing a beta of Pixie for Plex, an independent standalone Apple Watch app
for Plex music and audiobooks.

The goal is to make Apple Watch feel like a real Plex player on the wrist,
including both online and offline listening.

Current beta features include:

  • Direct streaming from Plex on Apple Watch
  • Album and playlist downloads for offline playback
  • Audiobook playback support
  • Lyrics support
  • Watch-first playback controls and queue management
  • Family-friendly use cases like curated child-watch listening

You can see the beta page here:

TestFlight:

Testing requirements:

  • Apple Watch
  • Plex server with music or audiobook content
  • Real device testing is especially useful for playback and downloads

I’m especially looking for feedback on:

  • Plex sign-in flow
  • server discovery/selection
  • playback reliability
  • download behavior
  • audiobook usability
  • overall watch experience

Pixie is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored
by Plex.

If you test it, I’d be grateful for bug reports, rough edges, and feature
feedback.

I would love to test this as this is one of the main use cases for me for my kids having an Apple Watch vs a simpler smart watch, but I can seem to figure the workflow to get this installed when the watch is set up as a standalone kids watch through the TestFlight program. Am I missing a step? It’s not available in the watch’s App Store yet, TestFlight says I have to install it on the watch, but I can’t figure out how.
