Can you clarify, do you mean you have 5 different PMS’?

If so, I see no reason why not, as long as you can install webtools or Kodi you should be fine

I do have 5 or 6 PMS but that’s not the issue.
1 PMS DB is where my watched and unwatched media is kept.

And there are 3 local users and two remote friends!

Will trakt store the watched and unwatched information of all users? (on my win10 PMS)
And if yes how does that information get to the other (Shield) PMS?
i.e. how does Trakt talk to the my Shield PMS

Is that where plexkodiconnect comes into play - I install that on kodi on my Shield?

I’m not sure if you could do it with webtools install but should be able to with plexkodiconnect on all machines.

So Trakt is an online account for tracking your watch history. Every user will need a separate account.

plexkodiconnect makes Kodi use your PMS database, so when Trakt Kodi plugin updates Kodi, plexkodiconnect syncs PMS too.

You’d have to set-up a Kodi user profile for each user & in each put the relevant Trakt account & Plex username, I’m not sure that works with remote users but users on the main account certainly.

Hope that helps.

Ok Thanks Stuart.

This will not get all my users watched data from my windows PMS to my Shield.
Well it might with a helluva lot of fiddling

That’s why I have been waiting for over a year for nvidia or plex to let us have access to the PMS folder!

So I will by a shield pro, replace the disk by a SSD and then root the device. I’ll keep community informed of my findings. Don’t know yet when I’m going to do that.

And why are you replacing the drive?
If you think it will be faster you are right - will you see the speed increase - unlikely

@spikemixture I agree. No my objective is better reliability and absolutely no noise

@MattTwinkleToes I agree with you. What concerns me as well is the disk that is not SSD

edited now I have read the rest of the thread

You will notice the performance increase with an SSD for sure, especially when read / writing large files!

@MattTwinkleToes indeed the migration process is not affected. I’m doing two things at the same time, sorry for the confusion. Migrate and setup a backup/restore process, and on top of that improve reliability (and possibly noise level) of the box by replacing the disc with a SSD.

Now that I have root access to the Shield, does anyone knows what are the folders that I should backup? In other words what are the exact paths?
Are there specific warnings when doing the copy to a network folder?
Thank you

I think I found it: /data/data/com.plexapp.mediaserver.smb

At least I can do a manual backup from time to time using ESexplorer. I copy the folder directly to the NAS. Maybe this could be automated, but I think I spent enough time on that matter, let’s enjoy the movie library now.

Bumping this as I have just purchased the 2019 model Shield Pro - has anyone had luck with transferring an existing PC Plex database over to the Shield?

I have moved this file from PC to other PC’s, Shield(s) , Qnap NAS, Synology NAS, Drobo DAS
AND BACK - all that is required once moved is re- pointing tv, movies etc to the proper (new) location .
com.plexapp.plugins.library.db

This holds all my watched /played media which is the most important for me
