I’ve ran into a strange problem the last couple of days trying to play current TV shows on my LG TV. Some of these TV shows, not all, have significant hesitations in the play back, just like little hiccups, not stops. Just one or two second stops that relate only to the video, does not affect the sound at all. I’ve noticed that if I disallow Direct Play the hiccups are less often, almost not a problem but still there somewhat. Any idea why some shows would have these hiccups and not others? I’ve also notices that if I reduce the play back from the original 4.5 Mbps to 1.5 Mbps there are no hiccups but the quality of the picture sucks. Must be a setting somewhere that is causing this. Thanks for any help.
Sounds like local bandwidth issues. how is your TV connected to your network?
Can’t really rule that out completely but I can start one show and it hiccups, stop it and go open other show of the same HD quality etc and not a hiccup. Got me totally befuddled. Even tried optimizing the bad one to other formats and no improvement. In fact the Plex optimizer doesn’t seem to want to change the show at all, optimizing usually takes a minute or two, this is done instantaneous with no change. Thanks.

Appreciate the replies. Turns out it is a bit rate issue. The last few shows have been encoded at 4.5 for some reason. Anything above 3.5 is causing these hiccups. Optimized them down to 3.2 which is what all the files have been up until the last few days, and they play great with no loss of quality. All the files that played right from the start without optimizing were found to be less than 3.5, that’s what caught my interest. Thanks.
