Firstly apologies that I cant post logs as I am remote from server.
I have just got a new LG tv in my remote work residence and installed Plex. I’ve changed the remote settings to ‘original’ just like my sisters lg tv and other Roku etc.
I have a strong WiFi signal (Plex reports 31mbps in the dashboard).
All my HD films are encoded at 4mbps video plus whatever the audio is.
If I play a HD film it just buffers, literally every 5 seconds. Plex dashboard reports it is direct playing so it suggests a bandwidth problem, but as I say Plex also shows 31Mbps and speed test on iPhone gives me 60Mbps.
If I play an SD film it plays fine… but Plex dashboard reports it to be transcoding when it shouldn’t be or need to.
I know it’s difficult without logs, so any ideas? Or anyway I can get to the logs remotely?
I think the problem is with the upload speed of the Internet connection your remote server is on, not the download speed of your work residence. You may need to have a look at the “Remote Access” section of the Settings for your PMS and ensure the Internet Upload Speed and “Limit remote stream bitrate” values are set appropriately.
