Under the Home/Activity selection I see one of my users having watched a movie. Wanting to get more information, I went to the dashboard and searched under the play history for both the user, and in general as well, only to not find the movie that was listed as being watched in the activity listing. Can someone provide more information on how both of those lists are populated and possibly providing a possible reason why they wouldn’t match?
The Watch History in your user profile lives on plex.tv.
It is generated from this feature https://support.plex.tv/articles/sync-watch-state-and-ratings/ and can be set to private etc.
It will only ever show items which have been matched with the new (now default) metadata agents.
Private (“Other”) videos cannot be matched and thus won’t show up.
The “Full History” on your server Dashboard is a much older feature and lives only on your server. It has some other criteria about when an item is considered “watched”.
Partial playbacks won’t show up in either list.
Manually marking an item as “watched” will only show up in the Watch History in your user profile.
