Play Mode Settings Per File?

Hey folks,

I currently have my RasPlex set up in my Living Room and my Server is running as a Docker on my UnRaid server, both connected via Gigabit LAN. I have the Global Play Mode set to ‘Direct’ in the RasPlex settings. This setup generally works well but certain TV Shows in AVI format pause every couple of minutes which is very annoying. I have traced this down to an issue with the files themselves and the solution is to change the Play Mode to Transcode for these files.

This brings me to my question. Is there a way to change the Play Mode on a per file basis? The Plex app on my Samsung TV allows you to change this on the main page for the file in question but I cant see a similar option in RasPlex. The only option I can see in RasPlex is in the Global quality settings. Obviously it’s going to get very tedious having to keep going here to change settings depending on what I’m watching.

I think this is not possible.
I also think that AVI files need to be purged from this earth. :-q

I cannot count how often I solved playback issues with AVI files by simply throwing them into MKVtoolnixGUI and muxing them into MKVs.

Give it a try.
(the quality will not change a bit, because the audio and video streams remain identical, only the container changes)
