Play Next on Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 not working

TLDR;
OUCH! I had to go back to 10.8 of the Plex app for the Shield and BAM Play Next started working again… Someone should seriously look at that…

The Play Next section on the launcher is no longer working, it was working fine up until 2 days ago (maybe) when I noticed entries I had watched weren’t updating the next time I opened the Plex app. I’m also noticing that after exiting Plex the Shield Dashboard doesn’t try to refresh or anything which it did when Play Next was working.

Things I’ve tried:

• Uninstalled the Plex app and reinstalled
• I tried to see if a beta was available, to my knowledge there isn’t (joined the beta program and waited 5 min)
• I checked for firmware updates on the Shield and 9.1.1 is the latest available to me.
• Factory reset Shield
• Cleared data and cache for the Plex app on the Shield
• Restarted Shield countless times
• Rolled back server version
• Rolled back player version to several different versions

I DID confirm that Play Next in general is working correctly, for Twitch, FibeTV, etc, just not poor old Plex… Who at Plex do I have to poke to get some assistance?

@elan I’m at least hoping you can poke someone for me? (if you even see this)

It’s not the Shield itself, so it’s something between the server and client app.

So the Play Next section is there but it’s not updating when an episode has been watched.
Same symptom I was experiencing that prompted me to uninstall the app which led to the Play next section going missing in the first place.

I went back to 10.23 and the Play Next section is still present, and after watching an episode from play next it does update properly. Looks like the problem is with 10.24.

This isn’t a Plex issue, as it isn’t occurring within the Plex app. Your issue is with NVIDIA.

I didn’t think anyone actually used the Play Next feature from the Shield homepage. Just open the Plex app and use it like everyone else lol.

The fact that installing a different version of the Plex app got it to work tells me you’re wrong…

I like the play next feature and use it all the time, lol don’t tell me what to do just because you don’t use it.
