I am having similar issue tapping the movement button still works though.
Is the issue temporarily resolved when you force quit the Plex app and reopen it?

Problem confirmed… but not just play/pause… I use a custom IR remote for apple TV… which give me more buttons like pause, play, stop, skip fw, skip back, rewind, fast fwd, etc… all these buttons do not work while watching video, until you press select (click center on apple remote) then most buttons work.. This might be a fail-safe feature built into IOS 11’s video playback to prevent videos from fast forwarding or skipping accidentally when someone grazes the touch pad on the apple remote (which is quite sensitive).. If so Apple should disable this fail-safe for IR remotes as they are not sensitive to touch.
PS: Plex should take advantage of the many extra IR buttons to enhance Plex viewing.. at least 2 of the playback buttons do nothing in plex..
for those who dont know about these extra buttons see attached screenshot..
Same problem (but doesn’t happen each time)
We’re hoping for a fix in beta 1.19, which will be pushed out soon for you to test. We can’t say with absolute certainty it will fix it, as its been hard to reproduce.
I reported this problem under the regular Apple TV Plex forum so it’s been happening since before running the Beta version…
Is this still happening now?
The latest beta should have fixed this.
Haven’t experienced this in the last day or so, will report back if it happens again. Thanks for looking into this one!

Ohh, sorry, it will soon. We fix a bug causing this nasty issue, so when you get 1.19 beta, can you confirm that it is indeed fixed.
Thanks

I will be glad to, if it ever makes an appearance. I have no issues reproducing this bug on my atv’s, so this has become more than flipping annoying. It is time to take it out of internal testing, heck it should be publicly released by now. Sorry for the rant…

You should see the beta 1.19 now, please let us know if the Play/Pause bug is in deed fixed. Unfortunately, the bug was caused by using a framework proposed by Apple, and we can’t release a fix like this until we are positive that it doesn’t breaks other things.
We are deeply sorry that we missed this in the previous release.
Thanks,
@gnuaha7 Play/Pause is functioning correctly now.
Working perfect for me now on all three Apple TV’s
I just experienced it on the latest build so the issue still exists
The issue is gone for me with 1.19

Is happening as often as before? We were able to easily reproduce it before, but now nobody in the team has been able to reproduce it.
Upgraded to the latest build tonight and it just occurred after about 4 hours of use so it is still happening. Switching to Plex on my Android phone, linking to my Apple Tv, then hitting pause on the app will pause the video - the Apple TV remote then begins to work normally again…until it happens again sometime later.
