Playback broken on webOS

Server Version#: 1.42.2.10156
Player Version#: Plex for LG 5.93.2 platform 9.2.4

I have Plex running on my NAS, but if I try and stream video from it on my LG OLED TV then after some time (sometimes seconds, sometimes a minute or so) the stream buffers (the player shows the buffer spinner, and the server dashboard says its Buffering) for a minute before “Playback Error: An unexpected playback problem occured”.

The source is 1080p HEVC/AAC and is being Direct Streamed to the TV. The same server on the same wifi network will successfully stream to both the Plex webapp on my laptop and a Roku TV, so the problem is limited to the webOS app.

Does anyone have any good ideas why this could be, or is the LG plex app just bad?

Glancing at the other LG posts here, it appears that the LG app is a second-class citizen. What hardware would be considered first-class? We’ve a Roku TV which is pretty solid and they make streaming sticks too, but being Apple users I’m also considering getting an Apple TV.

Glad to see this post - it seems that since the latest WebOS update I’ve had issues with playback… perhaps we’ll see a new plex app on webos soon?

WebOS seems to be the lonely step-child regarding good/current apps available. There are several apps that run on other platforms that don’t run on WebOS… perhaps time to get a separate androidtv box and stop using WebOS… (why oh why hasn’t Nvidia released a new ShieldTV bos???
