I keep getting this Playback Error for all channels:
I’m on Freesat South in the UK and live TV is no longer working at all; I tried with the latest version of PMS installed on my Mac mini and my Synology DS718+.
This used to work.
I even deleted the DVR and recreated it but it makes no difference.
What’s strange is that whilst not being able to watch live TV I can record programmes for the very same channels successfully.
So the error message referring to not being able to tune the channel would suggest some internal issue with the PMS functionality for Live TV as the PMS is able to tune into the channel for recordings.
I noticed the release notes for Plex for Apple TV v2.11 states:
Live TV and transcoded streams wouldn’t play with the Enhanced Video Player when DNS Rebinding Protection is enabled in your network.
I tested live TV and I don’t get the tuning error anymore but it still doesn’t load the programme; instead I just see a black screen with the spinning circle.
However, when switching the Enhanced Video Player off, then the programme loads.
Just tried it again; all components are updated to latest versions but watching live TV on Plex says “Recording failed: Live TV - Session” for every channel I try regardless whether I’m using the enhanced player or not.
I can’t even watch the channel that Plex is currently recording.
@mw4925@dgaust - It’s good news that you can play the recording!
The most important item to post is debug level server logs from shortly after the problem has been reproduced. Without them anyone responding is just going to be making an educated guess. Make sure debug level logging is on, and verbose logging is off.
For bonus points post the time that the problem was reproduced to help finding the problem in the logs. Details on server platform, version, clients used that have the problem (and any where it works), and TV tuner details would be very helpful.
I would have, but there seemed to be no responses to a long standing issue - even as much as what you’ve posted.
However, mine has appeared to have resolved itself over the last few days (with my twentieth attempt to setup the DVR), so I’ll be keeping an eye on it to make sure it remains stable.
