Devices used are Samsung TV (Google TV - Typhin OS or whatever samsung calls it). This issue is persistent among all devices locally on the network, PC, phone, TCL TV’s on roku, etc.
This has been an ongoing issue for 2 months. Movies that I have been watched in January also get playback error. All unwatched Movies have the playback error too.
No TV shows or other categories are effected at all. Audiobooks play, Music plays, etc.
Remote transcoding plays movies without a problem. It seems to be limited to my local network only.
I have tried enabling and disabling subtitles, changing bit rates, forcing bit rates, forcing transcodes, I tried adding webtools addon to see if that would help, it didnt and i dont think it installed correctly anyway. Probably too old or depricated.
I have tried posting on FB and Reddit with no solutions at all. I have tried older suggestions that didnt solve the problem.
I didnt see a code option to post the logs, so here they are below. I followed the restart and wait 6 mins instructions from the forum post.
SOLVED: Turns out there was a corruption within the database. Instead of running repair, I just turned off the server container, and then deleted the DB file. It just rebuilt the entire database as if its a new install and movies work again!
