Server Version#: 1.19.5.3112
Player Version#: 4.30.2
Hello.
I’ve just updated Plex to the latest build and I can’t play some of my video files anymore.
Everytime I get this error message:
“Playback error.
There was an unexpected error during playback. Please visit our forums if you continue to experience problems.”
I’ve tried to find what those files have in common, but I didn’t find anything. They’re all MKVs, but other MKVs work perfectly. And of course I could play them until I updated Plex.
Ever since a Plex Desktop app update this morning, playing all media from my server is failing. First I noticed because someone that I share my server with contacted me about the playback errors, but when I tested myself it was working for me. Then my friend mentioned that he installed a client update this morning, so I restarted my client to install the update. After installing the client update, playback started failing for me.
I noticed that there was a new server update so I tried installing that but it didn’t fix the issue. Both me and the people my library are shared with cannot play anything. This is affecting both Music (flac) and TV shows (mkv).
EDIT: Just restarted my client again (like 20 minutes after the previous update that broke my client) and there was another update available. Things are working again. Thanks!
I came here to report I was also having this problem in search of a solution. @tylerpenn was right - I just updated my client, then it wouldn’t work. Closed it, opened again, and it said another update was available. Installed that and it’s working again.
Same for me, I had to rollback to a previous version of server.
1.19.5.3112 Version is probably buggy, none of my 4 (different platforms) clients can connect to it. Tried literally everything, install, uninstall, reinstall, repair, reboot.
