Plex server version 1.18.2.2058-e67a4e892
Running on a Synology DS212j
I recently purchased Plex Pass so I could record TV shows with my Synology. I also purchased a HDHomeRun Connect Duo. I can view live TV through the Duo with no problem so I know it’s working properly. Plex sees the Duo and can load the guide but when I try to watch a show I get a message that just says “Playback error - This live TV session has ended”
I tried recording something to see if that would work and it does not. It creates the folder to organize the show but the file is 0kb. Is there just not enough processing power in the 212j? I know it’s pretty old at this point. Can anyone confirm that the newer Synology models can handle this with no problem?
It appears to be a processing power problem. I installed Plex Server on my HTPC that runs an i7 and live TV/Recording work fine there. Problem is that the HTPC doesn’t have a lot of disk space - it streams from my Synology.
Is is possible to automatically move the recorded shows from my HTPC plex server to my Synology plex server? I guess I could set up some kind of script that would run on a schedule but looking for other ideas.
Couldn’t you mount a folder from the NAS on the HTPC to use as the TV/DVR library. You would also need one for TV Movie. If your NAS can’t deal with recording mpeg2 it certainly won’t handle transcoding it for the many clients that can’t direct play.
