NAS Server Version: Synology DS918 with PLEX server software package installed.
Plex media player version#: 3.77.2
Windows 7 HTPC

I just set up a synology server that is connected to a HTPC that I’ve used for a while successfully. It in turn is connected to a Samsung TV (Series 8000) through a HDMI cable to a Yamaha receiver.

I can play movies on the TV if I use the Samsung hub and connect DLNA through the server, its just not very attractive an interface.

When I use the PMP installed on my HTPC everything is there and connected to the server but when trying to play movies or music I get a “Playback Error” An error occured trying to play this item. So far I’ve been unable to make this work. I noticed on the log file it says “unrecognized file format”. The format is mkv and it plays fine on my desktop pc and monitor.
