Playback errors on all files

Hello Forum, thank you in advance for any assistance…

I’ve used plex for a couple years now with success, but recently all of my plex clients (mac/pc browser, roku, xbox, etc.) can no longer play media files (get the playback error message). I’m a bit stumped, as nothing major has changed in my configuration.

Additional info:
-all media is on a WD mycloud NAS server, separate from the pc that runs the plex media server (this is not new)

  • i can see/access that server fine from any mac/pc, including the media server pc itself (\wdcloudmirror\public/shared videos…). i am not mapped to the NAS server with a network drive letter (nor have ever been)
  • plex media server is running windows 10
  • i cannot play a file from plex on the media server (get the playback error)
  • i have verified that all the files are there, etc. (can play the files from finder/explorer)
  • my plex server version is up to date (windows)

i’m a bit stumped, as i cannot think of anything that has changed that would cause this to no longer work across the board…

started doing this to me tonight as well. Tried signing out of media server and logging back in. Lets me log in but now can’t find any media servers…

Same here. Rolling back to old, even very old versions didn’t work. At all. Can’t read anything anymore, was working perfectly (Windows 7) fine 6 days ago.

What’s happening? If at least we had some guidelines on what to do besides rolling back. Obviously something was modified that broke the way PMS play content.

Same here, my Plex app on my Roku TV worked well for a couple of years and now only 1 out of about 30 playback attempts will ever load. Always sticks at 13% and then it times out. I have also tried Roku Plex rarflix app, Roku Plex classic app, Fire Stick, and the Roku player app which all work flawlessly and will load and play video files very quickly. I have attempted multiple settings for my Plex server and Roku Plex app as advised from different forums to no avail. Even have deleted the app and reinstalled it a few times. The only thing I have not tried is resetting the Roku TV back to factory default settings. I would like to stick with the menu for the latest Roku Plex app as it has a much better menu than the other four working apps/Fire Stick I have for tried on my Roku TV. The issue appears to be the latest Roku Plex app. Any ideas for a solution?

This thread must be only a place to vent your frustration and not a thread for assistance. No one has assisted since the beginning. I will start looking at Emby as an alternative.
