Playback Errors

Server Version#: 1.43.0.10492
Player Version#: Latest

The last several days, I have been getting issues with media not playing. My server contains Movies, TV Shows, and Music and all are affected. Reproducible on browser, desktop app, mobile and tv. The playback client shows “An error occurred loading items to play.” or similar. The console shows Error: “Got exception from request handler: std::exception”

I have tried the Plex DBRepair script commonly referenced and it does not resolve this. The only resolution is to restore to an older database. However, after a few days the error will start occurring again, with the only solution to once again restore to the same know-good database.

I am frequently adding new media as well as updating metadata as needed, so it’s possible there is just a bad entry somewhere in the database or a file that is bugging the whole thing out, but I don’t know how to identify that. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Additional server info:
Host is a NUC PC running Linux Mint (a Ubuntu variant). Media files are hosted between 2 external hard drives. Drives appear to be fully functional from the Linux desktop. Issue only occurs with Plex playback

Some old posts I found on this same issue indicated that it could be a result of a recent plex update. I tried reverting back to 1.43.0.10467 and then tried another DB repair and the issue persists. Still trying to find a solution…

That’s so interesting! I’ve been using Mint specifically for Plex for years. Good to know that it’s not officially supported. I hate to think of rebuilding everything to a new OS, but if the issues continue, this may be the only option. Thanks for the reply
