Playback stopped working

Server Version#: 1.42.1.10060 (on Ubuntu lxc container in proxmox)
Player Version#: Plexamp 4.12.4 and Plex Web
<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug logging should be enabled>

Last week media playback stopped out of the blue for me. All files, both video and music, can be seen in the plex web interface as well as plexamp but as soon as I try to play a file, there is an error message. I tried a fresh install of plex on a new lxc yesterday where media playback worked but as soon as I copied over my Plex Media Server Folder from Application Support the media wouldn’t play. So I guess it is no permission error. Interestingly, playback via Infuse for Mac and iPad works.

I don’t want to lose my playback history and music playlists.

Prior to the error, I don’t remember doing anything out of the ordinary, except for the usual apt updates for the lxc container and host.

It sounds like your previous PMS database might be corrupted, since a fresh install worked, but your database transfer caused it to fail. You might try to run ChuckPa’s DB Repair Utility:

https://github.com/chuckpa/dbrepair

Instructions in the README and on the repo site.

Also, depending on how you copied the files, the directories and files may not have the proper permissions. The rsync command usually works well for me for maintaining the permissions. And, copying over the Preferences.xml file from the Application Support folder could be problematic.
