Playback issues

Hi guys

 

I've been running plex connect on my iMac and streaming to my ATV3 and its been working flawlessly.

Though in the last 2 days movies keep buffering and struggle to play. When i use my laptop , phone or iPad to play the movies it works fine just the ATV is the problem.

 

When I've had the issue in the past i just restarted the ATV and it worked fine but thats not working now :(

 

any ideas? I'm a bit of a computer noob but ill provide info if needed. Ive reset router and iMac but still no luck. Ive updated PMS but i haven't updated "plex connect" for ages if thats the issue?

Can you post all the information in the “read before posting” thread, specifically the troubleshooting section. And include the media I for for one of the effected movies. This helps in investigating the issue

let me know if im missing something.

  • Your ATV model (2 or 3) ATV 3

  • The DNS server set on the ATV (found under the ATV settings > general > network > DNS):

  • The local IP address of the device that PlexConnect is installed on: 10.0.0.99

  • The device and operating system (including version number) that PlexConnect is installed on: IMac osx 10.6.8

  • The device and operating system (including version number) that the Plex media server (PMS) is installed on:IMac osx 10.6.8

  • The Plex media server (PMS) version number you are running (do not put 'latest'): 0.9.9.7

  • The local IP address of the device that the Plex media server (PMS) is installed on: 10.0.0.99

  • The PlexConnect version number. If using Github source then a time and date of download (look at the creation date of the folder) and if you are using any non-standard setup e.g. Plexify or a fork. How do i find this?

  • The contents of your 'Settings.cfg' file (this is created at first clean shutdown of PlexConnect, using CTR+c) 

  • [PlexConnect]

  • Detail on the media file if it is an issue related to playing a media file It does it for all 720p and 1080p MKV files, but only from 2 days ago it has played flawlessly until now

 

Im just working out how to do the plex connect log

I just rolled back pms and still no success. Played perfect on laptop, ipad, and phone but slows to a crawl on atv. Even trying to watch a preview on atv won’t load and buffers. But if I turn off pms and try the previews again it runs fine with no buffering??

What machine is you PMS running on? Did you force transcoding for aTV?

Its running on an old Imac upstairs that i only use or the server. 

I will try the force transcoding when i get home, i guess its just on the pms settings section?

How old? Is it capable of doing a proper transcoding job?

No... oher way around. Try to replay without forced transcoding - if it was set for any reason. Setting in aTV->PlexConnect->Settings.

i changed the settings on the atv to transcoder (is was on auto) and it all seems to be working :)

not sure why it would start causing issues all of a sudden i never changed the setting.

Anyway thanks for ya help greatly appreciated, keep up the good work!!!!
