I cannot get passed the playback limit of 1 minute even though the Plex app is paid for on Android through Google store in 2021. It is very frustrating and nothing I try seems to work, also not the method on how to retrieve the payment.
Anyone or anyone from Plex an idea? Or how best to proceed. I have been at it for 2 hours.
Plex Documentation → Remote Access and Granting Library Access → Requirements for Remote Playback of Personal Media
Please verify the version of the Plex app.
The rules changed last April.
If you have the “new experience” Plex mobile app, version 2025.xx.yyyy, then you need a Remote Watch Pass or Plex Pass to stream remotely from a Plex server.
Thanks for answering! Client version is 2025.28.0 (966828506).
so even though I paid for the app in November 2021 they change the rules now that my payment is no longer applicable and the only thing to do is a monthly subscription while I am getting to try away from the monthly subscriptions..
however, it is not remote, it is in home streaming on the same wifi.
This version doesn’t have a 1-minute playback limit anymore.
Please quote the exact error message that you see.
Without a Plex Pass, you will only be able to stream content while within your home network.
If the app is seeing your server as “remote”, there are a few possible reasons for it which can be (usually) resolved. Client says it won't play from "remote server", although the server is local
thanks for replying, I can stream from the server I host from my home computer, and on the same network over wifi I can stream from it from my phone (android) and tablet (also android), however I just see that everything I open is locked to 1 minute and 30 seconds, However if I play the file on my pc itself it is normal lenght (22 minutes per show).
Follow the link I set for you above.
remote access is disabled, so would only be able to connect through my own network, which it does. It just limits everything to 1 minute and 30 seconds. no matter the content. It is locally hosted and locally accessed.
This is not the point. Please follow my link and read it carefully.
