Playback notifications stuck in Android 11

Hi there!
Since upgrading my phone from Android 10 to Android 11, I’ve noticed that the playback notifications from Plex get stuck in the new playback area which was introduced with Android 11. I can’t remove them manually, and it’s not possible to open the Plex app and clear the playback from there either since the playback data within the app is already cleared. This error will get stuck for days and usually gets cleared when I reboot the phone, but after a few more uses new items will get stuck.

I’m mainly using Plex for TV Shows and Movies so it’s mainly these two where I’ve seen the issue occur.

I searched for similar topics on this forum and found multiple entries from 2-4 years ago but they are all closed without mentioning a solution.

I’m using a OnePlus 7 phone with the latest available OS version (Oxygen OS 11.0.1.1.GM57BA), the latest version of the Plex app and the latest version of the Plex Media Server.

I will attach two images taken seconds apart which will show you the issue..

Looks like it’s been like that for a while: Bug: "Playing on this phone" Notifications stuck even after force stopping Plex app

My friend recently got an Android 11 phone, and told me about this bug today. I wonder if they even know about it and going to fix it any time soon.

Yeah, it seems to have been an issue for quite some time now… I found multiple threads about this prior to creating my own, but all of them were closed since people stopped posting in them. I must have overlooked the thread you refered to, because I didn’t see it.

I don’t know how to get their attention, but this is actually really annoying.

Also have been having this issue for a while now on Samsung Android 11, One UI 3.1

I have noticed that the issue will also occur in the following scenario:

Start playback of an episode, watch the whole thing and then crucially → wait for the countdown to start the next episode. From then on, both episodes will show up in the notification bar.

Months keep passing by, and still no updates from plex devs… The issue has not even been acknowledged by them yet.

Don’t route your customers to report bugs on this forum if you can’t monitor it and respond back to us within a reasonable time frame.

Replying to keep this thread alive, still a problem on my Motorola Edge+ Android 11.

My problem is bigger, though, in that the Android 11 media controls don’t always appear after Plex has started playing a stream, I sometimes have to restart Plex a few times, pause/play a few times, etc. Haven’t figured out what pattern eventually gets them to appear.

This is still a very frustrating issue.
