Playback problems on Plex Free

BTW, I also have this problem with another streaming service named Viaplay, so what do you think, might it still be a problem with streams from a certain server that perhaps both Plex and Viaplay are using?

Like I said, there is no problem at all with Netflix, Prime Video, Starz and YouTube. So you would think that this isn’t a hardware problem and I also don’t see how the LG webOS may play a role.

I have of course already contacted Viaplay and LG to see what they will say. Viaplay told me to reinstall the app and LG doubts it’s a problem on their side and told me to reset the TV. Of course both solutions didn’t work.

Any news about this, or do you guys just don’t care? Like I said, I did have the same problems with another streaming service named Viaplay, but they reset my connection, and then the sound stutter became way less frequent.

But on Plex it’s still just as bad as months ago. Keep in mind that almost 2 years ago when I started using Plex on my LG Smart TV, I didn’t have any problem at all. So why can’t you guys fix this problem on this TV model? Come on, this is getting embarrassing.

Still no fix for this problem? I have to say that I’m hugely disappointed with you guys. I mean this should be easy to fix, no?

Like I said, this sound stutter only happens with movies and not with commercials, this tells a lot. So there must be something wrong with the movie streams.

I also haven’t got any problems with other apps on my smart TV, think of YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, SkyShowtime and HBO Max. It’s only Plex that has this problem.

Just to give some more info, I figured out that it must be related to problems with bandwidth management, see link. But I haven’t got a clue why I only have this problem on my smart TV, and not on my laptop, it doesn’t make any sense. :grimacing:

Is QOS turned on in your router? If so there might be an issue with it or it is not detecting what the stream is. Turn it off and see if you still have an issue or setup the TV as high priority.

Thanks, will check this out. But now that I think of it, it shouldn’t be related to the router, because even when my smart TV is not connected to the router, it still happens.

However, I forgot to mention that both my laptop and smart TV are not directly connected to the cable modem, but via a powerline adapter in my bedroom.

But like said before, there are no problems on my laptop, so again this doesn’t make any sense. Why would the network card in the smart TV all of a sudden only have problems with streams from Plex?

And BTW, I did found a couple of articles, but this configuration is not available with the Plex app.

Sadly enough I must come to the conclusion that the Plex smart TV app is probably crap. It’s also way slower than for example Netflix and YouTube. I would like to advice Plex to redevelop the app, surely this shouldn’t be rocket science. Like I said, Netflix and YouTube are super fast.

Actually, now that I think of it, perhaps this is a dumb question, but if I change settings via the Plex Web website, might this also affect settings on my smart TV, or does it only apply to my laptop? Because on Plex Web I do see a couple of settings that I can configure, and these are not to be found on the Plex smart TV app.

And BTW, I can’t find this setting about allowing insecure connections anywhere. At this point I’m willing to try everything.

Its only Plex ad-supported video on demand is not working. I have a Wi-Fi connection that is the fastest internet and It does not work it has the shutter sound and shows a playback error. Luckily, I installed the Plex media server. I am watching my old DVD collection and set up a NAS device to store those movies on a Plex media server. Since Netflix and Disney+ are too expensive here in my country. Maybe you can do that while a Plex employee sees that the Ad-supported video on demand is the only one that shows a playback error, not the media server.

Thanks for the feedback, so I’m not the only one. And yes, I already explained that it’s a problem with Plex ad-supported movies that have problems with playback. But by now it’s clear that Plex simply doesn’t care. But I also found the amount of ads and duration of ads way too annoying anyway. To me Plex is a horrible company, I don’t take them seriously anymore.
