Playback problems on Plex Free

I’m getting sound hiccups and streaming is also not that smooth, I often lose my connection. I don’t think it’s my internet connection since I have no problems with YouTube and Prime Video. I had this problem on Mikey and Better Watch Out.

Hello, is anyone reading this? I have noticed that I have this problem with just about all movies, so there is something seriously wrong. Do other people also have problems?

Does the outage happen before, during, or after an advertisement break?

Thanks for the response but I don’t think it has got anything to do with advertisements. As soon as the movie starts playing, then the sound will stutter every 15 seconds or so and eventually the movie will stop playing.

Now that I think of it, I need to test it without VPN, but I don’t see how a VPN could cause such a problem? I mean like I said, I have no problems with Prime Video and YouTube playback, not with sound and not with video.

By the way, I have checked it out without a VPN and I get the same problem with every movie. Can you guys take a look at it? Perhaps it’s something with the cloudserver? But I couldn’t find any other topic about this.

Actually, now that I think of it, I have this problem on my LG 32 inch smart TV and it’s connected via powerline adapter to my modem, so I’m not using WIFI.

But I just checked it on my laptop without VPN, and I don’t seem to have this problem. So perhaps it’s something wrong with the Plex smart TV app? I have tested it with Leprechaun and Stalking Laura.

The issue has been reproduced internally now on older LG Tvs. It is therefore on the Radar of the developers.

OK thanks a lot! It’s quite a weird issue, I hope it will be fixed soon because I wanted to watch a couple of movies before the World Cup 2022 starts.

And of course I still hope that you guys will offer a Plex Premium subscription with less ads or without any ads at all. I’m willing to pay up to $15 dollar per month.

By the way, I hope this will be fixed in the coming week, can you give some info about it?

I mean why would it only malfunction on LG smart TV’s? It doesn’t make any sense. And to give some more feedback, it doesn’t happen with advertisements, but only with movies. And with some it’s worse than with others.

For example, with See No Evil 2 the sound hiccups are quite bad. Same goes for Hostel II, but strangely enough those sound hiccups are less frequent with Grandmother’s House. However, video playback has been improved, I don’t lose my connection anymore.

Is there any news on this, how long is it going to take to fix this weird problem?

Come on guys, this still hasn’t been fixed. What if I was a paying customer? Is this how you treat your viewers? This problem has been there for a month now. I don’t see what’s so hard to fix about this, there is clearly something wrong with the streams, is it a problem with the cloud or what?

Hello, is anyone home?

I am having the same problem. It gave me the playback error while playing The christmas Candles on plex. Don’t know why? But with other movies it doesn’t only that one.

You also get the problem with sound stutter? And are you using a LG smart TV? I think it’s bizarre that no one else has complained about this issue, and it’s even more bizarre that Plex employees don’t even bother to respond, let alone fix this problem.

Are you still there OttoKerner and is there any news on it? Is it really only a problem on older LG smart TV’s? Keep in mind, this TV is a 2021 model so it’s not THAT old.

But anyway, in Europe there is this new streaming service named Viaplay and to my surprise they also sometimes suffer from this problem with certain movies. So is it a problem with certain cloudservers or what?

BTW, for what it’s worth, I checked a couple of settings, but didn’t see anything strange. Should I perhaps change settings related to server ports? And I didn’t see any setting to allow insecure connections, which apparently fixed problems in 2021 with a slow Plex app.

I’m using the Plex for LG app, Client version 5.52.3, Platform version 4.9.0, I assume this is the newest version. Should I report this issue to LG as well?

Now that I think of it, the Plex app is very slow, besides this sound stutter problem. It really needs to be updated, because other apps like Netflix and YouTube are blazingly fast.

Those should be in Settings>Advanced (there are two settings) But those should not really affect the streaming stuff just connection to PMS

Thanks for this info. Which specific model LG do you have?

This quote is from the other topic.

But I seriously can’t believe that developers can’t figure this out? It has been a problem for months now. How on earth can this be possible, no other streaming service has this.

On my LG smart TV I use: Netflix, HBO Max, Prime Video, Disney+, StarzPlay and YouTube. Only Plex gives me this problem with sound stutter. Isn’t there some type of issue with the streaming server?

It’s this model, I seriously don’t see what’s so special about this TV from 2021:

Different models have different capabilities. It may be the specific version of Web OS. There may be nothing special about that particular model. The devs themselves have not been able to reproduce and more info is better than just deciding what is and isn’t worth while to know.

OK cool, hopefully they will be able to figure this out. The weird thing is that from I understood, the Plex app is exactly the same on all platforms. And I don’t think it’s a problem with my network speed, otherwise other apps would also give this problem.

However, I forgot to mention that I also make use of a couple Dutch streaming services, namely: Videoland, Film1 and Viaplay and with Viaplay I had this issue for about one week. Perhaps I should also report it to LG, because it might be some bug in LG’s webOS. But I doubt it, I think only Plex can fix this.
