Playback randomly freezes during playback

Server Version#: 1.22.3.4523
OS: Linux version: 18.04.5 LTS (Bionic Beaver)

I recently began having issues on my Plex Server, I upgraded to 18.04 from 16.04 and that is when I started to notice this issue. When playing media through the Plex web app the playback will stop for random amounts of time. I did notice today when this occurred I saw under Status->Alerts that the server is stating created and then random pictures from my Photos library. I noticed this at around 14:13 today. This corresponds to when issues were experienced.

Full logs ZIP please?

can’t diagnose from a snippet but what I do see implies the host is overloaded ingesting photos. There are over 5000 lines of it.

Sorry about that. I am not sure why it is doing anything with the Photos - we haven’t modified any files in that folder for quite some time.

Thanks!

It’s doing a forced (scheduled ?) metadata update of everything.

Did you leave that turned on by accident ?

The transcoder is otherwise fine. I see it slumbering waiting for the player to need more.

Thank you. I can’t seem to find exactly where this setting is. Under Scheduled Tasks they should run between 2 and 5AM. Beyond that I have refresh local metadata every three days, refresh library metadata periodically, fetch missing location names for items in photo sections, and Analyze and tag photos checked.

In

Settings - Server - Library - Show Advanced

do you have it set to periodically scan for media?

If so, that can trigger analysis.

Thanks ChuckPa. I was able to shut off some of the scheduled tasks and that corrected it. I don’t know why the problem started after the 18.04 upgrade but regardless it is fixed now.
