Playback stops randomly with Netgem (DLNA) client since moving my server from Windows to Synology

Since moving my Plex server from Windows 10 to a Synology DS918+, I have trouble playing videos on my Netgem box (set top box provided by my TV provider): playback stops randomly at intervals of a few minutes. I’m also using a Samsung TV player which doesn’t have this problem, so I guess it’s specific to the combination of Synology server / DLNA client.

Attached is a log file covering a period where it happened multiple times, the last time around 23:20.

I’m totally clueless so any advice is welcome!

More information:

  • I tried several videos and it happens with all of them
  • This issue doesn’t occur if I use the standard Synology “Media Server”, so at least I have a workaround. But I’d really like to be able to use Plex again…
