Playback suddenly stopped working, transcoding issue?

About 2 weeks ago my Plex server (installed on Synology DS920) just stopped playing back most video files. I think it is something to do with transcoding. Direct play of MP4’s still play, but none of my MKV’s play anymore. I’m not sure what caused the issue as I did not change anything. I did later update my Plex server software in case that would fix the problem but it did not. My Synology is on DSM 6.2.4-25556.

I would appreciate some help as I am just going around in circles.

Thanks trumpy, I have done that.

The weird thing is that iOS playback is now working (iPhone and AppleTV) but web playback is still hanging when trying to play a MKV file. I have tried Chrome and Firefox just in case it was a browser issue.
