Playing 1080p HEVC 10bit media on Fire HD devices

Server Version#:1.25.5.5492
Player Version#:8.29.0.30433

I have a 2017 Fire HD10, a 2020 Fire HD8 and a brand new 2021 Fire HD10 which have all worked well with my Plex Server for H264 media. My 2017 Fire HD10 can play 1080p HEVC 10bit just fine with direct play but both my 2020 Fire HD8 and 2021 Fire HD10 always have my server transcode the stream to H264. All 3 run the same version of the Amazon Plex App and all 3 have identical configurations. The strange part is my oldest Fire HD10 is the only one that can direct play 1080p HEVC 10bit while the two newer models do not. Anyone else with Fire HD’s have the same issue and has anyone found a work around.

Thanks again and appreciate the community support which resolved other issues I’ve had.

I have the exact same problem.
And if I disable transcoding on the server, my 2021 Fire 10 says it cannot play the file at all.

Upgraded both Server and the App Player and my 3 Fire HD’s still have the same issue in which my oldest Fire HD 10 7th Gen plays 1080p HEVC 10 bit with no issues but the two newer Fire HD 10 11th Gen and Fire HD 8 10th Gen both transcode it to x264. I’m at a lost for words, why on earth does my 4 yr old Fire HD 10 play 1080p HEVC 10 bit just fine and the two I purchased last year do not?
