Amazon Fire HD 10 (11th gen/2021) unable to play HEVC/x265

Server Version#: 4.69.1
Player Version#: 9.6.3.34515

“Error
Unable to play media”

Not a single HEVC file will play on my Fire HD tablet through Plex, but will play fine in other players. I’m guessing this is a transcoding problem, as my server can’t do transcoding, but I have the transcoding options off on my server and client.
Direct Play works fine on all my other devices (Android phone, Fire TV stick), and I know the device is capable of on-device HEVC decoding.

What else can I do?

I’ve the same tablet. It direct plays some HEVC - 8 bit, SDR, L4, 30 fps, 1080p or lower resolution.

HEVC 10-bit, HDR or SDR, transcodes.

Here’s some sample files, from jell.yfish.us (which seems to be offline).

8 bit HEVC direct plays on my tablet
jellyfish 10 Mbps HEVC.zip (24.9 MB)

10 bit HEVC transcodes on my tablet
jellyfish 10 Mbps HEVC-10bit-Main10-4.0.mkv.zip (24.9 MB)

Fire HD10 tablet specs:

The Fire HD 10 cannot decode 4k hevc.
