I tried searching and didn’t find this topic, but maybe I overlooked it.
With the new features of skipping credits, where the logic looks for specific changes in the video to determine when credits are occurring and if there are “end credit scenes”, why can’t Plex finally begin playing multiple episode single files correctly?
For example, numerous of my kids shows have their season files with multiple episodes on a single file. For example, S04E05-06 and etc.
To date, I’ve been using MKVToolNix to manually split each file into two separate episodes, which can easily take ~20 minutes or so for a single season to actually break apart each file and rename it correctly for Plex.
Can’t the new end credit logic be used to actually do this automatically in Plex? If you have a single file with two episodes, why not jump to the middle of the file and look for a black screen transition to the next episode? I imagine if you jumped to the middle of the file, and then began to look +/- a few seconds in each direction, the player could find this “episode break” and now finally play the correct file.
Is this too simple in my brain?
