Playing multiple libraries on shuffle?

Hi. I use Plex for playing a large collection of music video clips on a smart TV through the android app. I have the collection broken up into different libraries for each decade. Eg. 80’s, 90’s.

My question is: Is it possible to choose multiple libraries and get plex to shuffle video clips from these?

I would like to avoid creating a new file on my computer for all music video clips as it will take a heap of extra hard drive space.

If multiple library shuffle isnt possible, is it possible to filter music video clips according to decade? To shuffle just one decade of music according to the metadata in one library?

Cheers
Bruce

Thanks Beckfield. I’ll give it a go!

With “file” you mean a Plex library or do you mean to copy all your music videos themselves into a common folder?
The latter is not necessary, because you can point one library to several folders

Yes, there is a filter which allows you to do that – provided, that all your music videos are tagged with their release date.
You can even create self-updating playlists with the desired decade (or range of decades).

It doesn’t really matter that the Android client doesn’t expose this filter, because you can always pick the playlist and shuffle that.

Thanks again. I have now created a standard playlist called music all. The problem is I don’t know how to find it. I can’t find a section called playlists. Only the option to add videos to playlist. Can you tell me where to find playlists to play them (or edit them)?

You might have to add the section “Playlists” to your sidebar first.

If the library previously didn’t have any playlists in it, it might take a client restart or a user switch for it to reload the library from the server.

I got it. Thanks so much for your help. Great forum!
