Glastonbury has rolled around again, and I’ve added some concert videos to my Videos folder in the usual way with -concert at the end. In the web player, I’ve gone to the relevant artists and refreshed the metadata, and the videos appear.
Now, how do I play them? Plex doesn’t allow me to browse my music library anymore and plexamp doesn’t show video files. This affects android and iOS.
I have 249 video files saved in my Videos folder. Am I really only able to watch them through the web player now??
I think the only current way would be to create a new music video library (but with personal media type). You won’t be able to access them through music or artists.
Personally I’d like to see them support a music video library, pulling metadata from IMVDB. I also think some music video info is on IMDB or TMDB as well. But I’m not holding my breath.
I tried creating a new library. Based it on “Other videos” and pointed it at my videos directory.
All of my older files that just have Artist - Title.ext show up, but anything I’ve labelled Artist - Title-context.ext is excluded.
If I relabel everything without the context that will break labelling in the web player.
This clearly wasn’t thought about when the apps were stripped of music. Is anyone from Plex listening / thinking about this. Added context was one of the things I love about plex. I have a bunch of files pulled off my DVDs in my Movies and TV folders, and I’ve used the same thing for concert footage of bands / artists for years. It’s currently broken.
