I have various Plex enabled devices which have worked perfectly for a few years now, however I have recently bought a Fire TV box which has just stated doing some strange things.
Tonight I tried to watch 3 of my TV shows but when I clicked on the episodes I wanted it played another random episode from a completely different show. I can still watch perfectly on my other devices so it’s not a library issue. I updated to the latest version of Plex server yesterday.
Update your libraries because something has happened to your database. All file names (episodes) are indexed by media item ID. When you click on something, that media ID is queued up to play.
That said, Update as I suggest, empty the trash, and clean the bundles. See if you can repeat.
If not, please grab the log files and/or revert to an earlier version (a backup copy) and try again after you update libraries again on it.
I also have been having this issue over the past several months, on my Fire TV (s). Generally If I continue to cancel and reselect the desired media, it will eventually start. I have also found that rebooting the Fire TV will temporally fix the issue.
Server is a Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS box, with Plex Version 1.4.3.3433 running on it. Fire TV running OS 5.2.1.2, Cant find the client version…
