Hi all.
Recently I noticed one of my smart playlists had jumped up about 800 items. Using another app, Prism, I discovered this was because three-star items were erroneously being included despite the rule being five-star items. That is the first issue I wanted to fix.
I tried restarting Plex and my Synology to no avail, however, I did notice that sometimes when I manually applied the rule to my library I would get the correct number of items. Usually it seems to display the correct number right after restarting Plex and then it reverts to the selection with the extra 800 a little later. If I try to create a new smart playlist with this rule I get the error “Something went wrong. Make sure the destination is available and try again.”
I Googled and tried to eyeball the logs myself and I found this near the attempted playlist creation “database disk image is malformed.” I did see the page about repairing a corrupt database and admittedly I’m a little wary of doing so – I pretty much do all my Plex management through the the app and all my NAS management through the Synology web interface so I’m not well-versed in using a clear line interface with my NAS if that’s what it takes.
I did see another post where a user with a similar issue was advised to
- Create the directories by hand as root
- Change ownership to
plex:plex
- Force re-scan all your media
- Force “Refresh All Metadata"
I’m not sure how relevant the first two steps are to my situation. I did force rescan I didn’t seem to change anything. I’m happy to Force “Refresh All Metadata" and I apologize if that’s all that’s needed and this long post was for nothing - I’m just very wary of losing all my ratings. I have a fairly large music library and the ratings are pretty much the only way I interface with it.
Other notes: I can play the playlist from the playlist screen but if I try to click on it to get a more detailed view I get an error–it does not load in the app. I have no idea if this is relevant but it seems mildly interesting. Additionally, all other function seems totally fine.
I have attached the logs and I would greatly appreciate any advice. Once again I apologize if the correct steps or somewhere I already mentioned looking at - I just want to do as much as I can to ensure that my rating data is preserved, it represents a lot of time and effort.
