Playlist share not working properly

(not sure this is the best place but this could go in a number of other forum subcategories so I’ll try my luck here first, then maybe take it elsewhere)

Sharing Playlist is not working properly.
I shared a music playlist (made of individual tracks from different artists/albums, i.e. a mix tape :slightly_smiling_face:) with my daughter’s account and although it appears on her Plex account, it doesn’t display the actual content of the Playlist but…it can be played??

This is what it looks like when I log into her account on my Android app:


And this shows up under ‘Shared’ but if I go to Music/ Library, I can see all the complete albums I shared with her by creating a label I share with her.

But if I then go to Music/Playlists, it shows:


(and that ‘Kenpixelated’ account is in fact mine).

So, as you see it’s completely messed up?! To summarize, on one hand Plex tells me I’m not sharing any playlist but if I go to ‘Shared’, I’ll see the playlist but cannot view the content of it…but can play it?!

Yet another user left in the dark by the dev-team. Yes I can comfirm that sharing playlists is NOT working. It has been one of the oldest and most upvoted features for many years, but development tend to focus on VR streaming and other mumbo jambo fatures…

I’m having trouble sharing playlists too. I share them in admin with a home user but then the home user shows no playlists available.

I’m having the exact same issue. Shared with a Home user and somebody i’ve invited into my Home environment… same problem with both.

When I share it says they will get an invite, but the user hasn’t received an email, or notification… also no playlist when they look at their playlist view within plex.

Yup, it’s a real shame that this post is even being completely ignored by the Plex support team, despite the fact that I notice the we are all Plex Pass owners complaining on this thread!

Anybody know how playlists are handled on Emby?

Can someone point me, where to get guide for playlist creation?

It’s funny that I find this Thread still open and no updates from Plex Support.

As a PlexPass member I would expect at least a reply with a “We will look into this issue…” Type of reply.

I have scanned ALL of the Plex Logs and do not see mention of any Email nor the Email Addresses that would be associated with the “Shared” request for a Playlist. This is still an issue and I would really like Plex Support to review and if they need a Bug Report submitted, just ask.

This is really irritating to have a feature that is suppose to work, others have complained about it not working, and then I find out while trying to Share a Playlist that this feature doesn’t actually work and I just got a couple of peoples Hopes up for nothing.

Totally agree! It’s quite shocking honestly that absolutely NOTHING is being done about this and by that I mean, not even acknowledging the problem and answering paying Plex Pass users here on this thread!
Considering how quickly you can often get a response for problems easily solved, it’s quite obvious they’ve read this thread, especially since it’s growing, but chose to ignore it.

At least this thread will give 2nd thoughts to prospective Plex Pass buyers that had their heart set on this feature or who wonder about how supportive the Plex staff is.

Just had the same issue, was solved by going to shared then music, instead of just music

Where did you find “shared”?
