+1 for sorting playlists. Makes it easier to not double up on which music is added to your list if you can see what has been added at a glance.

+1 PLEASE!!! It’s SO frustrating I can’t sort my songs to see duplicates or sort by artists and “reorder” a list I made without manually dragging and dropping each individual song. It’s NUTS!

Now shuffle play seems broke. If I go to my library, don’t select anything, just hit the “random” arrow s button, it plays tracks from three artists. I have to skip about 10 songs before it hits the rest of my library. This is through the chrome browser. None of the songs show any rating, my whole library is 0 stars.
Anyone else having this issue?

It seems strange that such a basic feature is missing.
I’m building a large playlist to use to sync to my phone and its shocking that I can’t sort it or search it. Instead I end up with the same song in my playlist multiple times?

I was really disappointed to see I cannot sort my playlists by track, artist or album.
Please, consider adding this feature!

Agree completely. We should be able to change it to Artist or Album view. I was going to create a playlist based on the new Rolling Stone top 500 Albums list but it would be an unmanageable nightmare to use with each album appearing as 12 or more songs.
If you could choose an Album view, the the 1st album on the playlist would be the number one album from Rolling Stone. It would be perfect. If it’s to hard to add as a sort, then you should be able to create it as an album playlist and leave it static.

Agree. Sorting of playlist and more columns is essential. I even tried making a “playlist of playlists” but there is no option in the custom filter for “track is in playlist XXX”.

Please add functionality for sorting of playlists. I agree with others. This is absolutely insane that basic sorting of playlists hasn’t been implemented yet. For example, I recently started adding local music to my server and creating playlists. It appears the playlists are permanently stuck in the order of when the specific track was added to the list. No ability to sort by track name, artist or album. Seriously???
Hopefully it’s there and I’m just missing it, but searched for a while and not seeing anything yet. Only option is to drag and drop each track individually and that is simply not user friendly especially when dealing with hundreds of songs.

Re the requested playlist filter functionality per below. Other than myself, it appears to be a much sought after feature.
Please note, although many of these posts refer to it for music management, I need it for movie playlists. Considering the large number of interested users and the long time frame over which requests have been made, can you commit a timing for this development? It is tedious to keep checking at each update. I have a long list of movies to watch which I’d like to work my way through in a systematic and structured way. Many thanks, Michael Power.

I think people need to post on here to show developers the actual level of interest in this feature.
I obviously searched for this topic because I would also love this feature.
For me it’s about tv shows. I’d like to create playlists with multiple shows and sort it, for example, by episode number. That way I could watch alternating shows while still watching each show in order.
It would also be easier to make playlists with multiple shows sorted by airdate which is great for watching interrelated shows (like Arrowverse).
Those are just two examples that have been on my mind recently.
Dear Plex support. I follow up on this development request for expanded playlist sort functionality for movies once again and my consistently unanswered question “can you commit a timing for this development”. It seems to me the case for this is overwhelmingly compelling. I pay for a Plex Pass and would be happy to pay a technical support subscription if it existed. I think the Plex app is excellent but you really need to have a better support mechanism. Once again, can you tell me when you will implement this development??? Kind Regards, Michael Power.
Add me to the list of still waiting for a reply. Being able to sort playlists, create them based on fields, change cover art, this should all be manageable.

I liked to see this feature added, but seeing that the devs er management isn’t on board with listening to their user base this is never going to happen. This request was posted in September 2015 and it’s shame it hasn’t already been addressed.
