Since the rollout of the new desktop / web UI several weeks ago, I noticed that the ability to sort the music playlists is no longer available to the interface. This was extremely handy and I used the “last played” sort to see which playlists I had not listen to in some time as well as a way to organize and clean out those I was no longer interested in having.
Are there any plans to put the sort ability back in the new UI?
Thanks in advance for your time and have a great day
sorry no new info. i bumped the issue so hopefully a decision is made. looks like there is discussion on the way sorts work in general across all media types
I am trying to switch to using Plex instead of Plex Media Library, but each time I do I find missing features.
First is was broken scaling, unusable when using multiple monitors/tvs.
Now I have attempted to make the switch again and am very disappointed to find I can only sort my windows Plex library 7 ways compared to windows Plex Media Players 13 different ways to sort. Duplicates is also missing. And when I click Custom Filter the library disappears and is replaced with “There was an unexpected error” persisting after a program restart.
Still windows Plex has some great features and hopefully only gets better.
Any news about that? I’ve been using Plex for videos for quite a while and I’m in the process of starting to it for music. It’s impossible to build playlists without shorting/filtering options. I keep adding duplicates and going crazy looking for stuff. It would be nice to be able to sort, filter, and also search options would be a nice.
I also just stumbled about this thread and was wondering how old it already is. I personally had the feeling that the issue started to occur with the new menu. Before I was at least able to sort playlists by size or by name. Now they are just ordered alphabetically and just playlength is depicted beneath each item but no item count (web interface in Browser). The latter I find especially useful in case some reordering activties in the file system invalidate items in a playlist. Usually I have all playlists copied via webtools as a backup, so once item count deviates from magic numbers like 50 or 100 I know something is wrong. Note that I am using playlists for music only.!
Funny thing. Since I am using PlexAmp I haven’t started the Plex Media Player - a kind of Windows Plex Tool - but just now I started it to check if the sorting is as I remembered. I haven’t updated it in a while and I declined to do so when it started up. In the old client the sort options I was mentioning are still available.
This kind of code regression is sort of annoying …
