Please add a DV P7 -> P8 conversion feature in Android TV app

Some latest popular Android TV devices like Walmart’s Onn 4K Pro now ships with DV playback that only supports P5 and P8, no P7 (not related to FEL, just P7 in general). As a result, Plex app can only play 4K rips in HDR10, not DV.
Latest Kodi 21 release introduced an option to convert DV P7 to P8.1 on-the-fly. This option allows devices like Onn 4K Pro to play UHD rips as DV, not HDR10.
Please, make this possible on Plex app as well. Hate to use Kodi for playing my UHD rips.

BTW, I have tried the Force DV P7 option in Plex app and no luck. Not sure what this option is for. As far as I know, it doesn’t do anything. My CCwGTV 4K will play DV P7 regardless of this option. And my Onn 4K Pro will not play DV P7 regardless of this option :slight_smile:

@foxba2 You should be able to turn the thread into a feature suggestion if you wish. There should be a :pencil2: to the right of the title. Select it to change the category from Plex Players to Feature Suggestion.

Use the Plex app on Kodi (PM4K) so you get both P7->P8 and your Plex library:

As for Kodi plugin, not everyone like to use Kodi. I tried a few times and can’t get past the antiquated UI of Kodi and general complexity of setting up Kodi on each device (I have more than a dozen Android TV boxes).
