+1. This is so annoying with 30s skip…
Please implement this feature. Just let us choose how many seconds each arrow will go forward or backward.
wow 2015 and still pending… almost 400 votes. this will probably trickle to the paid version
Maybe when they increase subscription prices they will have the funds for basic features
This is being worked on
Please make it so it can be customizable ![]()
Thanks
Finally
One month later, can we get an ETA or something? Please anything! I’ve been waiting years for that feature.
Any word on when ish we can expect it?
Would be badass if the setting(s) would be separate for each device or even each user on each device.
I just found that Global Speed chrome extension can also be used to skip ahead and behind with customizable durations. (works with Plex Web Client only)
Default keybind is Z for backwards and X for forwards.
This would literally take a few minutes. You add a new setting, a new database column for this setting, and instead of using the hardcoded time you set a variable with whatever is set in the setting.
It has been 10 years and Plex devs still have not figured out how to do this. Unfortunately there is a lot of incompetence at this company
For f*ck’s sake Plex. this is simple to do. so just do it!! I’m looking for an alternative. Plex clearly do not care about its users. Plex is slowly killing itself. Do yourself a favor, open source your source code so other (more competent) people can make it better
There is a way to do this manually, but it only works using a local version of Plex (by IP address or 127.0.0.1 instead of app.plex.tv). My FireTV stick or Android phone weren’t effected at all. It involves manually editing html and javascript files, and likely break any updates Plex pushes over the air.
This isn’t much of an ask, Plex. Do it the right way so I don’t have to use grep.
Please Plex Dev. This should be one of the easier things that can be pushed out. It’s a struggle. Allow us to choose the amount we would like to skip forward or backwards.
Last thing I want to do, is go into the windows files, and modify them just so I can have that simple feature.
I take it you know this is available in the new-experience apps?
When watching movies through Plex on a streaming device (such as projector or a tablet) and when hitting the fast forward button, then the movie is fast forwarded by 30 seconds, which seems to be excessive compared with common practices in other streaming services and video playing software.
In the most popular players (such as YT, Netflix, Amazon Prime, VLC) the default value of a single fast-forward click is 10 seconds. I’d say that there must be a reason for that and that 10 s is a perfect value for such an action in my use cases.
I’d love to see Plex’es fast forwards being set to the typical value of 10 seconds or being configurable, so everyone could adjust it to their needs.
I’m adding this topic as I’ve seen countless posts about it over the Reddit. I’ve been discussing it with friends who are also finding the 30 s FF annoying. I’ve even seen some third-party scripts with a single purpose to replace to 30 s FF with a 10 s one.
Thanks a lot if anyone is reading it. If you don’t believe me, please ask other people about opinions. I feel I’m not alone in this one.
Forward and back configurable in the “new experience” apps, currently mobile and Roku.
5/10/15/20/25/30/60 seconds
Damn, so I’m a bit unlucky here. I’m watching mainly on projectors (either through Nvidia Shield Pro or Prime stick) and from what I see it’s not available in this area yet.
But thanks a lot for that info, I’ll keep it in mind. I may use it on iPad when traveling.
Fingers crossed it will be distributed across all the platforms soon!
