When playing continuous episodes from a playlist, I have to keep opening the subtitles and selecting them. This defeats the entire purpose of having a playlist.
I don’t need to search for them, just to turn subtitles on as it seems they automatically download.

This is a VERY STRONG indication that the interface lacks intuition. Then we have the docs as linked above, where are those settings exactly? Who knows… must go menu diving and looking for things which is frustrating and a waste of my time. Then it ends up being a combination of settings… like why?
Please make this software easier to use, I’m tired of waiting with baited breathe for something better to come along.
Why isn’t this option for subtitles in the screen below? It should be one checkbox: “Subtitles always on” done.. simple.. why does everything in this app have to be hidden or complex?
Found it in the Language section…
The language section should have settings relating the language to the subtitles, not the core functionality of the subtitles themselves.
Please move these settings to the “Audio & Subtitles” section and furthermore: please consider enhancing your design process around usability and UX.
There are a lot of really dumb decisions being made that undo your hard work. It makes leisure time frustrating which is the antithesis to this product. I shouldn’t be on this forum at all, it’s a reflection of failure to produce something which makes sense based on ease of use. The docs are also lacking in specific information to find relevant settings and means I end up menu-diving.
Look at what Netflix does and try to emulate that as best you can, sure you won’t get all of it right but these things are important.

Maybe it could be as simple as having a link on the client subtitle settings, pointing to the additional settings on the account level?

These settings should be uniform and shouldn’t vary. If there is inherent variation between how you watch, then an extended menu attached to the core menu is standard for usability. The current solution is not a solution. I’m not really sure what you mean by how it’s viewed vs account options, so that alone tells me it doesn’t really make any sense to have it configured that way and tbh I don’t see how it relates to global settings for subtitles being grouped in the same menu.

All of the options in the Subtitle Mode dropdown should be in the Audio & Subtitle section. Even though there is a language option in there it is not dependent on other language settings, it’s dependent on whether or not the person wants subtitles regardless of language.
That’s why you have your language preferences per account… while you might want to have different visualization options on different clients (e.g. bigger/higher-contract on a mobile, smaller subtitles on a big-screen tv).
Ah ok I understand… but what does that have to do with subtitle mode? Shouldn’t that also be per account? Oh wait that’s what you’re saying as well. Ok cool.
