very new to plex and what it can / cant do i have read a lot of posts on 3D and its isues but very little posts seem to be from this year or even the last year so not sure if the bugs and issues people had in the past have been fixed or if people have just come to accept the functionality for what it is.
My 3D Display Device requires the source to notify the display that it is sending 3D content in order for it to activate the 3D menu and options.
i read a moderator one mentioned that there is no 3D Support for plex and only one device works with the sending of the 3D info which was Samsung Smart Hubs is this still the case.
is there any work arounds that would help info a display device that a 3D signal is being sent from Plex
Did convert all 3D movies with the help of a tool called BD3D2MK3D. There’s a thread here in the forum. My environment Fire-TV 4K Ultra connected to a 3D capable LG TV works like a charm.
Some drawbacks:
You can no longer play these converted 3D movies in 2D.
If you want 2D and 3D releases of that same movie, you need to put them in different libraries. If you put them in the same folder, Plex chooses automatically, and that won’t work.
And I do experience problems with metadata if you have that same movie in two different libraries. Plex forgets the covers after a metadata scan from one of both.
I have a Sony TV, it doesn’t like 3D via the Android App in the SmartTV. I must use my Samsung UHD BluRay player plex app in order for 3D Content to be sent as a 3D Signal.
The only thing I Needed to do was label them “H-SBS” or “H-OU” and when it picks it up on the UHD BluRay Player it sends it as a 3D signal to my TV automatically.
