Plex account hacked and payment made

Hi all,
This morning somebody hacked into my plex account and made a £93.13 payment through my PayPal account (which was setup / pre-authorised for plex). The payment was a lifetime plex pass and they also setup some kind of tidal music thing.

I obviously changed my password straight away and deleted the devices which I didn’t recognise. I put a claim in with PayPal but they rejected it, basically their argument was that my PayPal account wasn’t hacked into therefore it wasn’t an unauthorised payment.

I’ve emailed plex but I’m worried that they will also come up with some reason not to refund me. I’m not in a position financially to pay £93 for this.

Has anyone been in this position before? Will plex be able to tell that it wasn’t me who made this payment?

Never heard of this before and it’s a very odd thing for someone to hack in and buy!

I’m fairly confident that Plex will be able to find the IP address that logged in and bought the service; that is almost undoubtedly logged for compliance purposes.

With regard to your refund, I’m not entirely sure who would best support this. Is your PayPal linked to a credit/debit card? If so, they are probably the most likely, other than that I don’t know.

Do you have any idea how they will have “hacked” your account?

Have a look on https://haveibeenpwned.com/ to check your email address; that’s the most likely point of entry.
