The last few weeks I’ve made hundreds of new entries in the Musicbrainz database. It is my understanding that Plex does an update to this database once every 24 hours or thereabouts and this correspond well with my experience that I usually am able to match albums the day after I’ve made the entries.
This have worked very well, but one week ago I was no longer able to find new entries the day after. As of today I still cant find entries I made more than one week ago. Does anyone know if there are any issues with Plex Agent? I believe there was some sort of update to the Musicbrainz database last week, maybe this have created some unexpected issues?
Issue seems similar to me but with added frustration. I have created a listing on MusicBrainz on 05/19/24 for a “Single” for an artist. When using the match feature, Plex does pick up the listing from MB, but STILL lists the item as an album despite the listing correctly being a single.
Yes, this Plex Agent seems very buggy when it comes to metadata for singles. It seems strange to me that there is no option to use only metadata available from Musicbrainz. When they mix up this data with data from Allmusic and last.fm and whatnot it is very hard to predict the outcome.
For instance many of the artists in my collection have the same name, and even though they’re all listed 100% correct with different entries on Musicbrainz they still sometimes show up as the same artist in Plex. Ridiculously annoying. And even though the artist sometimes is pinpointed right down to the correct shoe size on Musicbrainz the Plex Agent still coughs up artist info that says there are at least five different bands with the same name. Unbelievable.
The huge problem is that there apparently is no way for mere humans to edit the entries in Allmusic.
