All of my music is properly tagged using Musicbrainz Picard. For the past few days new submissions to Musicbrainz are not being recognized properly. Usually after a day I can just refresh the album and it’ll match and remove itself from ‘Unmatched’ in the filters. However, I have songs about a week old now that, despite manually matching them, still show ‘Unmatched’ and do not update tags, although the album itself will show matched. The only entry in the logs are debug and this error:
[Req#b3a/MetadataAgent/GuidExchange/tv.plex.agents.music] Retrieving item mbid://358624e1-2abb-471f-a41f-3ddfcca42060 has failed (response is empty)
Older titles that have been in the Musicbrainz database for some time match without issue, however, so I don’t believe it’s a local issue on my end. I have ran checks and even rebuilt the Plex database, which had no effect. Is there an issue with the Plex Music service?
It’s been over a week now and not a word about this issue from anyone. I have nearly 50 albums that Plex finds and tries to match, but nothing happens other than the ‘response is empty’ error I posted above. Older titles prior to Musicbrainz DB migration have no problems with matching. It’s all after the DB migration that have the issue.
Chiming in to say same here. About 60 or so unmatched singles/albums, and all of them were added post-schema update. They match in the UI, but no metadata comes through.
Any releases I’ve added since the schema update that were already created in MusicBrainz prior to that update have connected no issues, so it’s just the ones created after that event.
Now it’s creeping into the artists. Again, new artists after MB’s DB migration are not matching. This needs to be addressed ASAP before this becomes a bigger problem with peoples’ libraries.
There is a problem here. It appears the plex server itself it not correctly matching new entries to musicbrainz. I have this example Release “Midnight Trash” by Pixie Lott - MusicBrainz which is unmatched in plex. If I then try and manually match it …
The team tracked down a permissions issue and have fixed it. The job is running again now but it will take a bit for things to catch up, so things won’t immediately be available - check back tomorrow.
Great! I just had one from a week or so ago pull in the label/genre on a metadata refresh. Others haven’t yet, but like you said above those I assume will catch up in the coming day or so. I was just eager to test it out. Thank you!
Any idea why this impacts pulling the embedded artwork for use in Plex? I have my library set to Local Files Only for album art and have the artwork embedded in the file, but all metadata refreshes on those albums failed to pull that artwork until today.
