I’ve noticed this happening more and more, where films of the same director are getting split into different instances of that director. I’ve gone into each, cleared out the director field, and made sure they’re both identical by copying and pasting, and still the multiple instances of the director remain.
Refresh the library metadata and this will be all-gone.
Plex has changed something how persons are handled (e.g. actors, directors). While they seem to have been going by name, each of them is now assigned a unique identifier to avoid overlaps / mismatches. If you experience this, it means you have already added new media since this change happened but your old metadata hasn’t yet been updated.
This will usually be fixed by one of the scheduled tasks – if it hasn’t done that (or if you had disabled those), refreshing the library metadata will do the job.
Tested on this director’s films and it worked, thank you! Will go ahead and refresh the entire library.
