Is there any way for Plexamp to simply shuffle all the tracks which have been downloaded?
I often find that the music stops while I’m cycling, and I need to stop and pull the phone to start something back up…
Could there be a “just shuffle all the songs you have loaded and don’t stop” mode? Basically not concerned what comes up next, just as long as it’s not nothing.
thx -bruce
Yes, it’s an option from the (…) menu (Play All)
Are you playing from the downloads tab?
That’s it above.
Ah wow perfect, thanks for the reply. how dumb to not notice the top-level menu!
Just getting started with using the download option, it’s a little confusing but fine once I get how it works.
can plex amp play songs what are one the music player as well?
I would like to eco this post and say that I would very much like the ability to download my whole library to my phone as well. Although I have a slightly different use situation. I would have the files compressed when on my phone for use away on a cellular network or when I don’t have any cellular signal at all, but then when I am home or on wifi I could have them play back in their original FLAC lossless quality. It would be a perfect situation! Please do this so I don’t have to give Apple $25 a year for iTunes Match. Please, please, please and THANKS!!!
Hey everyone, I scrolled and read a bit of this thread as it is very long… ^^
I hope that the download feature can be improved in the future for a per song basis without limitations so we can keep on using the app the same way offline/online (not having to go inside a separate downloaded section and just grayed out not downloaded song for example).
As other people said, spotify and other music provider does this download feature very nicely without any limitations, and having the same feature in plexamp would make it a full alternative. It’s just much more convenient for many of us to download their whole library, I personnally have around 10gb of music that I just want to download once and access it locally on my phone without having to use cellular data or wifi (and caching is not as reliable as downloading).
I hope that the plexamp team can answer something better than “no it is not designed for this”
Is it possible to download from folder view?
Hi all,
I am really excited about the potential of plexamp here - thanks! I am a heavy collector of my ripped audio CDs. So having a huge collection >24hrs ) offline would be a nice to have.
Of course most of my collection is well ripped including metadata - I have no issues using/downloading that content.
I am stumbling over another missing download option here (which I might have missed to enable somewhere?) - how can I download a certain folder.
Example 1: I have a folder including some of my my own songs (not tagged professionally), which I want to download and listen to/working on when traveling.
Example 2: I have a folder structure including mp3 files from all kind of different sources (not tagged as playlist/one album/…). So I like to download the folder content and just play it without having to touch the metadata.
I am oldschool as you see and coming from the good old winamp-world. I figured out how to to do this with itunes or even spotify - but I would prefer using plexamp for this.
I’m sorry, we don’t allow downloading folders at the moment.
Greetings, improvements the photos app and plex amp prompted me to get a lifetime pass, use these daily
One feature i would like to see in plex amp is an ‘offline mode’, where only downoaded and sync tracks are shown by default. Ideally triggered automatically when it not connected to a server
Thanks
Pretty please can you add a feature so we can download individual tracks? I don’t need ALL the tracks but having granular control over which tracks would be a game changer for me. It’s often the case that I only want a track or two or three from an album ON my device — yet I’m forced into an unpleasant “all or nothing” decision. What’s up with that? It doesn’t seem like there are any technological barriers that would prevent this…
I too was sorely disappointed today when I found that I can’t sync my entire library to my phone.
With 256GB storage on phones being normal nowadays, why wouldn’t I prefer all my music locally available so that I never have to worry about connectivity or data issues?
To be honest, I don’t get the reasoning provided in this thread — neither the supposed technical limitations nor the purported decisions around design philosophy.
It seems as if you simply want us to keep streaming over the internet at all costs — even though we’re all carrying around mini-computers in our pockets fully capable of storing and playing months’ worth of music.
I love Plex. I’ve used it for years. I love the Plexamp interface and the sonic analysis stuff. But in the end, I want to make the decisions regarding where my music is stored and how it’s played.
So, I’m back to using MediaMonkey on my phone, which easily syncs my 60+ days’ worth of music from my PC over wifi… I’m just sad I don’t get fancy playlists.
that you don’t get “fancy playlists” is the whole point of client server model. the plex media server has a ton of rich functionality and makes that available to thin clients which can’t have all of that on a phone.
having all the media offline i get (aggressive caching), but you’re always going to have the most powerful experience when you let the server use its magic.
Why not simply have an “offline mode”?
In offline mode, it functions much like a simple iPod without the bells and whistles.
In online mode, you get access to the smart playlists and features that require the server to work its magic.
for sure, that’s how we’d approach it.
I hope the ‘‘offline’’ mode is on the works, would make a big difference as it would complete the experience with Plex and make my long-term subscription worthwhile. Thanks for considering the feedback in any case.
