I have a similar TV, Sony Bravia 2017 Model KD-49XE7002. I’m using the TV’s Media -> Video menu to stream from my Plex server over DLNA.
I can’t help you with subtitles because they work on my TV (although this depends if the media source has bundles the subtitles in properly).
If it’s any help, my TV ends up using the ‘Generic’ DLNA profile according to the Plex logs.
Out of curiosity, does your TV display the DLNA cover art / thumbnails properly? I’ve got a separate thread detailing this problem (2017 Sony Bravia not displaying cover art for films - instead the first frame of the film) so am curious as to whether your TV (considering it’s such a close model to mine) supports this.
