Plex and kids

I have Kodi and I am thinking of moving to a Plex Server on a Raspberry Pi. I have some questions.

  1. I have seen this link in articles but it appears to be dead. Is there a new one

  2. Right now everything is in folders and I use Ember Media Manger to get information and thumbnails and the like. Can I keep that set up?
  3. Can I set a Wake on Lan? I want the server to wake up when accessed by a Plex client but sleep other times. It may be days between uses.
  4. Is it possible to set up something like retropi on a raspberry Pi and access via plex?
  5. Will the raspberry Pi 4 work?

You can, but it requires you to set up and install additional software manually, since Plex doesn’t read Kodi’s .nfo files by default.

No Wake-On-Lan

Sorry, I cannot answer any of the RasPi-specific questions.
Keep in mind though, that the RasPi is not an adequate hardware for using all of Plex’s features.
You’ll have to compromise and manually prepare/convert your media files to avoid transcoding at all costs.

  1. Retropie served via Plex, no.
  2. Pi 4 handle plex, yes but only if you are not transcoding. The pi cannot realistically handle transcoding. If you are direct playing, I’ve seen my pi 3 handle 3 streams at once without an issue. A single transcoding stream kills it, buffers constantly and unusable.
