https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/#plex-app
The regular Plex app uses a mouse
For HTPC you’ll have to configure some type of remote or game controller
Thanks, I’m looking for a client rather than a server. I saw something called rasplex?

You could always try LibreELEC with the Plex plugin. It will work with CEC so you would not need a keyboard or mouse.
I built one for my brother & one for myself. It was the only way at the time I could play 4KUHD files, my Nvidia shield has since updated it’s self and will now play them as well.
The link I gave you is for “apps and devices”
The servers are listed on the tab to the left of where I highlighted
Plex for Linux and HTPC are clients
I’ve heard of RasPlex but never used it
ok - thanks

Thanks, I will try the links from JaysPlex7 first. I just misread the screen earlier.

The RPi4 has a processor using the ARM64 ISA. We currently don’t build the apps for ARM64 but only AMD64 so these apps will not function for you. RasPlex is an old and unmaintained app based on the very old OpenPHT and similar with any apps in LibreELEC.
Thanks, I will steer clear of RasPlex.

Hi, I have tried both install options, but I get these error messages. Have I made an error?
Snap Store
Hello word test -
plex@raspberrypi:~ $ hello-world
ERROR: ld.so: object '/usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libarmmem-${PLATFORM}.so' from /etc/ld.so.preload cannot be preloaded (cannot open shared object file): ignored.
Hello World!
plex@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo snap install plex-htpc
error: snap "plex-htpc" is not available on stable for this architecture
(armhf) but exists on other architectures (amd64).
Flathub
plex@raspberrypi:~ $ flatpak install flathub tv.plex.PlexHTPC
Looking for matches…
error: Nothing matches tv.plex.PlexHTPC in remote flathub
Thanks

If I understand gbooker02 correctly, Plex does not have an app build that will work on that device
If RasPlex is not a recommended solution I’m not sure what is
You can ask goobooker if possibly Kodi with the Plex addon might work? I just don’t know, and I don’t want to steer you in the wrong direction again.
Thanks, I’ll try other solutions. Currently though VLC is working well, as the Pi is connected to my TV via HDMI and I use VNC on my phone as a remote control.
Otherwise, excluding my main TV, it’s working as a Plex Server.

You could use LibreELEC or OSMC with the PlexForKodi add-in as others have mentioned. I use it with OSMC on a raspberry pi 3B+ with a Kodi-18 and PiOS with the older 4.X kernel because I require 3-D functionality. They make a build for a raspberry Pi 4 as well but I actually haven’t even tried it yet because it’s probably never going to be 3-D compatible.
Just know going in that the PlexForKodi add-on does not look like Plex. It shares colors with the Plex interface, but it’s not the same thing. It does contain critical functionality. But not all the bells and whistles that you get in the windows client, for example. it will remember watch progress and that’s sort of thing.
I never tried RasPlex either. I do wish Plex offered a native arm64 Linux build for the pi. It could be a great little streaming box. If you use a pi4 it can do 4K and HD audio as well.
I’ve also heard rumors that some folks have built it from scratch on a pi using source code, but I think that code isn’t available anymore since Plex is no longer open source. If I’m wrong about that someone can please correct me.
Bottom line is I wish Plex had a real Pi player as well. It seems pretty logical, and a pi is more than powerful enough to stream movies.
Thanks for this KaraokeAmeica. Sorry for the delayed reply.
As I can’t seem stop the Pi from trans-coding & stuttering, even when I turn this off in settings, I’ll continue using VLC and VNC as a remote to create my little Pi set-top box, Works great. Browsing my media I’ll use Plex on Pi, but VLC to actually play.
