Plex and Sonos... again

Server Version#:1.29.1.6316
Player Version#:4.5.2 plexamp

Hi,

I am trying to get a nice smooth set up from plex to Sonos.

I have a WD MyCloud Ultra EX2 with plex media server running.

I am trying to play on sonos via plexamp app on android.

My remote access is showing as not availa le outside your network. If i disable then enable remote access it will be connected for a short while - can play music on the sonos - then it goes back to not available… it will reconnect periodically for short periods.

I have the WD NAS connected directly into my 4G TPLink router so should rule out double NAT. I have uPNP enabled on the router. I have port 32400 manually specified in the plex settings.

I have tried setting up port triggering for prt 32400 but that doesnt help.

Any idea where to go next?

This is the root of the issue. Sonos does require a working remote access of your Plex server.

When Plex server is started, it does automatically negotiate a port forwarding in your internet router.
Unfortunately, many/most routers nowadays remove those automatically established port forwardings after a while (hours – days).

The way forward is therefore to create a static port forwarding in your router’s configuration menu. Then tell Plex about it. https://support.plex.tv/articles/200931138-troubleshooting-remote-access/
