I got the new update. I can confirm my Samsung S21 now plays. I had the same issues before with casting from it though. I will test that later.

Anybody recently seeing forced transcodes due to direct play failing?
On SGS21 Ultra with latest win plex server @ 1.25.5.5492 and android app @ 8.30.0.30648.
On Samsung A20E, direct play works with the same server sw as above but running Android app @ 8.28.0.29997. When updated to the latest android app, it stops working, and rolling to the previous version 8.29.1.30697 Direct play seems to work.

Having this issue too. Was working fine last week now despite everything being set to direct play. Iām not getting the āDirect play failed, falling back to transcodeā device is a Poco X3 NFC
All the files are from the same batch and they work fine on the windows client and my FireTV 4K

Iāve narrowed it down to the android app version 8.30.0.30648 thatās causing the problem, as when both phones are using 8.29.1.30697 Direct Play works fine.
Something in the latest release seems to have broken Direct Play @sixones !
Interesting to see its not limited to Samsung devices onlyā¦
Would you be able to provide client logs from v8.30?
Iāve temporrarily fixed the issue by going back to the stable 8.29.1.30697.
Seems the issue lies with something they are changed in the recent beta release, thank @sunnyd24 for the work around

Uploaded to your inbox the plex client logs with both capturing 8.29 and 8.30 clients log data as requested.
8.30 auto updated overnight and problem has returned.
Any updates on the issue with the new version and how the forced transcoding can be resolved?

Plex inside DeX is still broken. I can open a web browser, and use the web client for plex, inside DeX, but not the actual Plex App. hello? anyone out there?
Thats a very niche use-caseā¦ and not really related to the OP - you may have more luck starting your own thread.
Can I ask, without sounding dismissive, what the point of using plex Via Dex is?
We have started our own thread, but havenāt gotten a single response
DeX is what allows you to use an external monitor or TV in a desktop mode, with any samsung flagship, phone or tablet.
Iād wager that Samsung flagships with DeX out number every other android unit that folks are using for Plex
I tried rolling back to 8.29.1.30697 but plex doesnāt work on Dex either. 
@sixones would really appreciate if you could provide us with some updates on plex support on Dex. Considering more and more phones are moving to android 11, if this is not fix, itās essentially plex is dead on Dex.
