Server Version#: 1.29.0.6244
Player Version#: iOS, 8.9 (Up to date)
Hello,
I know this may not be a supported configuration, but I’m just looking for insight if this is a problem with my configuration or if it’s an issue with how Plex apps connect to servers.
I have my Plex server setup behind a CDN (Gcore, paid service, not against TOS). This is because the peering of my ISP is terrible to my friends who I share my server with. They are barely able to get 3-5 mbps of bandwidth. When using CDN everyone is easily able to get 300-500Mbps.
This works amazing except for a small glitch/annoyance, since making this change almost every Plex app for everyone of my friends is broken and cannot stream from my server. Depending on the app it will usually let them view the library just fine and everything loads, except when they hit play it wont work. To get it to work I have to have them clear the app cache or uninstall and reinstall app. Usually this works, sometimes it doesn’t. My server has remote access disabled to force the use of the CDN, with custom access URLs specified in network settings. The change did not affect any of my apps that I’m signed into as the server owner account, even being remote. Only people I’ve shared access to my library to.
For instance with an iOS app, they are able to open the app, view my library just fine, cover art loads info loads just fine, but when they try and start a stream they get a “Could not start this playback session” error. Clearing the app cache inside of the app and restarting app fixes this issue, and it does not seem to come back. However for some this doesn’t work, and I have been unable to get the app working for them.
Let me know if more info/specifics is needed, I greatly appreciate any help anyone might be able to provide.
